چکیده

An overview of the recent operations and main results cesium injection in Source for Production Ions Deuterium Extracted from Rf plasma (SPIDER) negative ion source are described this contribution. In experiments without injection, all SPIDER plants were tested to verify basic expectations on operational parameters (e.g., electron cooling effectiveness magnetic filter field) determine its region. For beam properties, it was shown that current density varies across vertical direction. preliminary experiments, expected increase simultaneous decrease co-extracted electrons found, along with influence control (polarization electrodes, uniformity horizontal directions. A major shutdown, planned late 2021, solve issues during operation carry out scheduled modifications, outlined. Such improvements allow pursue requirements terms current, electron-to-ion ratio, duration.

Caesium influence on plasma parameters and source performance during conditioning of the prototype ITER neutral beam injector negative ion source

Systematic Langmuir probe measurements were performed during the caesium (Cs) conditioning of the IPP prototype negative hydrogen ion source. Conditioning consists of slowly injecting caesium into the source in order to increase the extracted negative ion current and minimize the co-extraced electrons. This process usually takes several days. Measurements were taken near the plasma grid where t...

Negative Ion Based Heating and Diagnostic Neutral Beams for ITER

To meet the requirements of the four operating and one start-up scenarios foreseen in the International Tokamak Experimental Reactor (ITER) a flexible heating mix will be required, which has to include a reliable contribution from neutral beams. The current baseline of ITER foresees 2 Heating Neutral Beam (HNB) systems based on negative ion technology, each operating at 1 MeV 40 A D ions, and e...

Physical Performance Analysis And The Progress Of The Development Of The Negative Ion RF Source For The ITER NBI System

For heating and current drive the neutral beam injection system for ITER requires a 1 MeV deuterium beam for up to 1 h pulse length. In order to inject the required 17 MW the large area source (1.9m x 0.9m) has to deliver 40 A of negative ion current at the specified source pressure of 0.3 Pa. In 2007 the IPP RF driven negative hydrogen ion source was chosen as the new reference source for the ...

Uniform Negative Ion Beam Extraction in a Cesium-Seeded Large Negative Ion Source with a Tent Magnetic Filter

For improvement of spatial uniformity of negative ion beams, the external magnetic filter was replaced to a novel tent-shaped magnetic filter in the JAEA 10 ampere negative ion source. The tent filter geometry is based on new findings in surface production of negative ions in high electron temperature plasmas. In order to link the tent filter, the original line-cusp field configuration on the s...

Overview of diagnostics on ITER neutral beam test facility

ITER operation relies on heating neutral beam injectors (HNB) based on negative ion deuterium beams accelerated at 1 MeV, with up to one hour 17 MW power, uniform intensity and low divergence. A neutral beam test facility is being built at Consorzio RFX to demonstrate the feasibility of a prototype injector with such demanding specifications and to optimize its performances. It comprises SPIDER...
